Job Title: Construction Inspector

Job Description

Construction Inspectors provide on-site representation during the construction of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. They are responsible for observing field activities, monitoring progress and quality, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the duration of each project.

Responsibilities

Remain on the jobsite daily throughout active construction.Conduct on-site observations to ensure contractor work aligns with plans, specifications, and contract documents.Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, markups, and other project documentation.Review and track progress schedules, shop drawings, samples, and contractor submittals.Attend preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings with the contractor and engineer.Support jobsite safety programs and follow required protocols.Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities.Coordinate with the assigned engineer and communicate field issues, recommending solutions as appropriate.Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Experience

RPRs or Construction Inspectors with water/wastewater utilities inspection experience.INDOT roadway or bridge inspectors looking to transition to water/wastewater inspection work (work is not seasonal like road inspection)Construction Foremen, Leads, or Managers with 5+ years in wet utilities or treatment plant construction.

Essential Skills

Professional experience in the construction and/or construction inspection of wet utility systems, including water lines, sanitary sewer lines, storm sewer, and water/wastewater treatment plants.Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction reporting software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Wet utility construction inspection experience with a civil consulting firm is ideal.Experience from the construction contractor side or those with INDOT construction inspection experience.Experience in pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, air testing, leak testing, chlorination & de-chlorination (disinfection), vacuum testing, and mandrel testing.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
