A civil engineering firm that specializes in Phase I planning, Phase II design, and Phase III construction engineering for transportation and municipal projects is looking to add a Construction Engineer to their team! Job Responsibilities: + Interpret and understand all contract documents, including plans, standard drawings, contractor shop drawings, specifications, and project provisions + Conduct daily inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with contract requirements + Monitor materials installed by contractors to ensure they meet specifications and certification standards + Maintain accurate daily documentation of all contractor work in accordance with client standards + Review contractor shop drawing submittals for compliance with project requirements + Assist with survey layout and perform horizontal and vertical field checks using total station, GPS, or transit level + Oversee contractor-installed Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) on a daily basis + Communicate regularly with the assigned Project Manager and project team; experienced candidates may also interact directly with clients + Visit and safely navigate construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations + Be available for occasional evening, night, or weekend work as needed Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution + Minimum of 3 years of experience (tollway, municipal, IDOT) + Familiarity with project documentation, record-keeping, and compliance tracking + Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently when needed + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Aurora, IL.
