Construction Administrator
Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail‑oriented Construction Administrator to support projects throughout the construction phase and ensure that work is completed in accordance with the contract documents, design intent, and applicable codes. This role acts as a key liaison between the design team, owner, and contractor, providing technical support, managing construction documentation, and resolving issues in the field. The ideal candidate brings strong construction expertise, clear communication skills, and a deep understanding of construction contracts and processes.

Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary point of contact for construction-phase coordination between the design team, owner, and contractor.Verify that construction activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.Conduct regular site visits to observe progress, document field conditions, and flag potential issues.Review and process RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, ASIs, and change orders.Evaluate contractor requests for compliance with contract documents and design intent.Assist in reviewing and certifying payment applications.Maintain organized and accurate construction-phase records and documentation.Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and turnover documentation.Review construction documents for clarity, coordination, and constructability.Identify conflicts, omissions, or inconsistencies and recommend viable solutions.Participate in QA/QC reviews during both design and construction phases.Help resolve field issues while protecting design intent and ensuring contract compliance.Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and field representatives.Attend construction meetings and prepare follow-up documentation as needed.Communicate clearly and professionally with all project stakeholders.Proactively identify risks related to schedule, scope, or cost.Essential Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).8–10+ years of experience in construction administration, project management, architecture, engineering, or field construction.Strong understanding of building construction, sequencing, and trade coordination.Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.Working knowledge of construction contracts and industry-standard agreements (e.g., AIA documents).Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and pay applications.Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience on healthcare, education, senior living, or institutional projects.Experience conducting site observations and field coordination.Familiarity with scheduling concepts and milestone tracking.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).Experience with construction documentation or project management software.Cost estimating or budget review experience is a plus.Work Environment

This role is based in the Charlotte office of an MEP firm, working closely with one additional Architect. The position offers a hybrid work model and includes required site visits. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
