**Job Title: Concrete Technician** **Job Description**
As a Concrete Technician, you will be a vital part of our team, working on open construction sites to conduct essential tests on concrete and soil. You will assess the density and compaction of these materials using gauges that penetrate the ground and perform additional tests including sieve analysis, air testing, and material sampling. Your work will support a geotechnical engineering firm that collaborates with construction companies to ensure quality and compliance.
**Responsibilities**
+ Conduct tests to determine the density and compaction of soil and concrete using specialized gauges.
+ Perform additional tests such as sieve analysis and air content measurements.
+ Drive your own vehicle to various construction sites, typically within a 25-mile radius, but up to 50 miles as needed.
+ Communicate effectively with construction workers to address and resolve any issues.
+ Write reports and draw site maps to document daily observations and test results.
+ Submit weekly reports of hours worked and mileage to the appropriate personnel.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in construction or related field for at least 1 year.
+ Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs.
+ Knowledge of concrete and soil testing procedures.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Earth Science or Geology is preferred.
+ ACI or MCA certifications are advantageous.
+ Comfortable working with geology and earth materials.

**Work Environment**
This position involves working outdoors 95% of the time in various weather conditions, with occasional lab work. You will travel to job sites using your own vehicle, interacting with construction teams and performing tests. The dress code includes work boots and jeans, with no shorts or cut-off shirts allowed.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ferndale, MI.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
