Job Summary

The Concrete Services Technician I supports the Concrete Services Team in field oversight, training, and operations regarding concrete production and testing, quality policies, procedures, and work practices of the Landmark Quality Management System as it relates to Concrete Services. Concrete Services Technicians I & II are supervised by the Concrete Services Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Functions:

Support field activities and policies related to Landmark’s Concrete Services, Quality Assurance & Control (QAC) systems, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). Champion a culture of safety, quality and integrity. Ensure that concrete production, placement, testing, and quality issues are routinely monitored, assessed, and reported to Concrete Services management. Conduct field-based audits to ensure compliance with Landmark Concrete Services, QAC, and EHS. Proactively educate field crews in concrete-related processes and tools to safely perform work meeting Landmark’s standard of quality. Conduct quality inspections of worksites to identify and correct poor quality results and properly report findings. Document and report quality issues and coordinate corrective actions. Investigate, assess, and document concrete non-conformances and quality deficiencies. Perform batch plant, laboratory, and site testing and data collection an analysis as required. Daily work is generally self-directed but collaborative with the Concrete Services Manager and Construction Operations. Actively support initiatives of Landmark Concrete Services including Landmark’s QAC system.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in construction management or related studies. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience:

Up to 5 years of progressive experience in production or quality control in the construction or concrete manufacturing industry. Proven experience in ACI standards and ASTM concrete testing methods and quality processes in concrete production and construction. Exposure to concrete construction and/or concrete manufacturing environments with respect to test methods and quality. Demonstrated knowledge of concrete mixture design and material-admixture interactions.

Certifications/Licenses:

Professional certifications such as ACI Field Testing Technician, ACI Quality Manager certification, NRMCA Concrete Technologist, or equivalent preferred. Current participation in an industry affiliated organization is preferred. OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety certification preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Valid passport preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, inspection methods, and construction industry standards. In-depth understanding of concrete construction practices, concrete mixture design, materials testing, and compliance requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and develop corrective actions. Strong organizational and management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a cooperative and productive team environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with management, field teams, and external partners. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software tools. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and industry codes. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards. Commitment to upholding high standards of business conduct and maintaining a positive, professional attitude.

Working Conditions - Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computers, peripherals, and telecommunication devices. Posture: Mixed - sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing. Motion: Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling equipment, with motion including lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking on uneven surfaces. Lifting: Regular lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds), such as test equipment, buckets of concrete materials, wheelbarrows, etc. Environment: Mixed - Indoor, climate-controlled office environment and outdoor environment in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind. The environment may also involve dust, noise, and exposure to hazardous materials. Exposure to high noise levels from machinery and construction activities requires the use of hearing protection. Travel Requirements: (up to 75%) Regular travel to different job sites, with overnight stays, is required. Depending on the project, regional or national travel is required. Safety Requirements: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and high-visibility vests is mandatory. Site-specific safety orientations and adherence to OSHA regulations are also required. Mental Demands: Competent in managing multiple projects under tight deadlines and adapting to changing conditions. Self-motivation and strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
