Job Description

GDIT is seeking an individual to fill a position as a COMSEC Responsible Officer - CRO as part of our Operations and Maintenance team. This position serves as an accountable official for all Communications Security (COMSEC) material within the contract effort, managing the complete lifecycle of cryptographic keys and related equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities involve managing key issuance, destruction, and transfers for approximately 1,000 devices, providing field support for loading, troubleshooting, and maintaining specialized COMSEC equipment such as vIPer phones and TACLANE encryption devices according to customer-established security operating procedures. The role also includes coordinating with customers and technical service teams on secure service implementations and performing cryptographic resets when required.

The proper management of COMSEC material directly impacts operational security and mission success. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity of classified communications infrastructure and safeguarding sensitive operations for our contract and customer organization within the enterprise.

Responsibilities will include:

Track COMSEC requirements, ensuring implementation of approved processes, providing coordination of task/activation/deactivation of all equipment, status monitoring and reporting, receiving COMSEC devices into the controlled cryptographic items (CCI) inventory, bar-coding of new COMSEC devices, power testing of COMSEC devices received, and destruction of equipment as requiredTrack warranty information for all CCI inventory items, providing monthly and ad-hoc status reports and performing initial configuration of cryptographic devices prior to deployment to field locationsProvide remote troubleshooting and support to all voice cryptographic endpointsConduct COMSEC account management and COMSEC inspection of all government owned cryptographic voice devicesInitiate, generate key, order, test and verify keys; load key fill devices with appropriate keying material for operational useDeliver, account, document and perform key destruction in accordance with National Security Agency (NSA) guidelinesCoordinate equipment requirements with cryptographic vendors, NSA and military services to repair, demilitarize, and dispose of obsolete and excess cryptographic equipmentConduct semi-annual inventory of all government physical Voice COMSEC materialIdentify, analyze, and resolve customers service issues using ticketing system and administration toolsets.Serve as backup to the primary COMSEC Custodian, participating in regular inventories, audits, and inspections to verify material accountability.Provide advice and training to end-usersParticipate in testing and deployment of new technologiesMaintain meticulous records in the COMSEC Accounting System while ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposition of sensitive cryptographic materials.Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited College or University is required along with 5+ years of experience.

In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, Associates and/or combination of 12+ years of experience may be considered.

Desired Skill Set:

COMSEC Manager training from NSAKnowledge of military/government COMSEC requirementsExperience with administration of Key Management Infrastructure, CARDS or Local Management Device/Key ProcessorFamiliarity with COMSEC and keying devicesPerformed loading of VIPER and STE equipmentKnowledge of Service Now or similar ticketing systemExperience in deployment and/or support of personal electronic device (laptops, tablets, iPhones)Willingness to learn new technologies to support other service areasTS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required for this position.
