The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a skilled Composites Specialist to join our team in support of prototype development and low-rate production of unmanned aerial systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with composite layup, tooling preparation, part trimming and finishing, and minor structural repairs. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and build instructions, and a strong background in composite fabrication processes used in aerospace applications.

Responsibilities:

Perform layup and fabrication of composite parts using wet layup, vacuum bagging, and other composite techniquesPrepare molds and tooling for use in fabrication, including cleaning, sealing, and applying release agents• Trim, fit, and finish composite components using hand tools and power tools by engineering requirementsInterpret and follow build instructions, engineering drawings, and technical documentationIdentify and report fabrication defects or deviations from design specificationsMaintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety and quality standardsWork collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to support rapid prototyping and production builds

Qualifications:

Required: 

Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain oneExperience in composite part fabrication, including layup, vacuum bagging, curing, and trimmingAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, build instructions, and technical specificationsFamiliarity with the use of composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, epoxy resins, and core materialsProficiency with hand and power tools used for trimming, sanding, and finishing composite partsAttention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environmentAbility to lift and manipulate medium to large parts and work in a shop environment

Desired:

Experience supporting prototype or low-rate production builds in an aerospace or defense environmentKnowledge of composite repair techniques and rework proceduresFamiliarity with pre-preg layup and oven/autoclave curing processesExperience documenting fabrication processes or contributing to build documentation

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$75,200 - 158,100 USD
