Schedule: Monday to Friday; First Shift 8AM-5PM (All applicants Must be available for all shifts and available for overtime)
Pay Rate: $42.82 to $46.39 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Composite Repair Technician to join our team supporting advanced aerospace composite structures. This role involves the fabrication, assembly, repair, and inspection of complex composite components using carbon fiber and other advanced materials. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with aircraft composite repair—particularly on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner—and thrives working both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced production environment.
What you’ll do Day to DayPerform, plan, and execute repair work on composite materials (graphite, Kevlar, fiberglass) and aluminum assemblies with a high degree of independence.
Fabricate, assemble, form and inspect composite parts, tools and assemblies.
Sand utilizing pneumatic air tools and/or bond assembly tools to obtain smooth surfaces.
Work from blueprints, work orders, documents, verbal and electronic information.
Work within a team and independently to build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials
Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work assignments.
Initiates or participates in both short-range and long-range planning, making independent decisions on repair policies and procedures within an overall program.
May take detailed technical responsibility for product development and provision of specialized engineering systems, facilities and functions.
Direct or advise on use of equipment and material.
Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up
Required Qualifications
5+ years of Composite Repair experience
Experience working on Boeing 787 Dreamliner
Experience with:
Taper sanding (30:1 ratio on composite material)
Potting holes, countersinking, composite drilling
Sweep fills and overlays
Use of resins and pre-preg material
Operating hot bonders, heat guns, and monitors
Compaction bagging techniques
Wet Layup, graphite experience
Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, and other small tools
High School Diploma/GED
Structural Composite Repair Certification (TR009348)
Physical Requirements
Ability to Work on platforms up to ten feet above ground
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to work overhead
Preferred qualifications
5+ years AOG experience
Certifications/Testing Required
Taper sanding tests on flat panels and stringers
Plate test
Sealer certifications
Hands-on skill demonstrations during the initial training phase
Will be getting tested for repair certification after plate test
