We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Compliance Officer to support and maintain high regulatory, governance, and quality standards across our portfolio of care homes. This is a key role for someone passionate about quality, compliance, and continuous improvement within the care sector.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all sponsored Gold Care Homes remain fully compliant with staffing, training, immigration, and Home Office requirements. The role holder will act as the first point of contact for all compliance-related matters, manage internal and external audit processes, and provide ongoing guidance and support to Care Home management and staff to maintain regulatory and sponsorship compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide central management and oversight of all employees subject to immigration control, ensuring ongoing compliance throughout the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit.Conduct regular compliance audits across sponsored Care Homes to assess adherence to staffing, training, sponsorship, and wider immigration requirements.Monitor and manage Right to Work compliance, including initial checks, follow-up checks, and record-keeping in line with statutory and organisational requirements.Oversee and monitor working hours, role duties, salary thresholds, and patterns of work for sponsored and visa-holding employees to ensure alignment with visa conditions.Monitor and manage leave and absence (including unpaid leave, sickness, and extended absences) for employees subject to immigration control, ensuring reportable events are identified and actioned in line with Home Office guidance.Act as the first point of contact for Care Homes during and following audits, supporting managers and administrators with immigration-related queries and remedial actions.Liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders, including Care Home Managers and Administrators, to schedule audits, compliance checks, and documentation reviews.Manage and monitor all audit processes, ensuring timely resolution of risks, gaps, and non-compliance, and implementing corrective actions where required.Act as a Level 1 User on the UKVI Sponsorship Management System (SMS), ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all required sponsor notifications.Maintain accurate, complete, and auditable sponsorship records, including Certificates of Sponsorship, visa documentation, right to work records, and compliance evidence.Prepare, review, and manage employee compliance documentation, ensuring all records remain current, accurate, and readily available for Home Office inspection.Produce regular and ad-hoc migrant workforce reports, including weekly reporting on employee status, attendance, location, and visa conditions.Review contracts, offer letters, job descriptions, and HR documentation to ensure alignment with immigration rules and sponsor licence requirements.Support general HR operations with a strong focus on compliance, risk management, and regulatory adherence.Stay up to date with changes in immigration law, sponsorship guidance, and Home Office policy, advising the business and implementing necessary procedural updates.Deliver training, guidance, and ongoing support to Care Home Administrators and Managers on immigration compliance standards and best practice.Support internal and external audits, including preparation for and response to Home Office compliance visits.Undertake additional ad-hoc duties to support wider compliance, governance, and workforce projects as required.Tasks and responsibilities within your area of capability may vary occasionally depending upon the needs of the business.
