The Complex Director of Finance is a strategic financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for The Midland Hotel and The Wade Hotel. This role serves as a key business partner to the General Managers and ownership, providing financial leadership that drives profitability, ensures strong controls, and supports long-term asset value.
The ideal candidate brings strong hospitality financial acumen, experience in complex or multi-property environments, and the ability to balance hands-on operational leadership with strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary financial advisor to the General Managers and ownership for both propertiesLead the annual budget, reforecast, and long-range planning processesAnalyze financial performance, trends, and variances; provide actionable insights and recommendationsSupport asset management objectives by driving NOI, cash flow, and EBITDA performanceParticipate in capital planning, ROI analysis, and owner reportingOversee all accounting functions including: General ledger, Accounts payable and receivable, Payroll coordination, Cash management, Balance sheet reconciliationEnsure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsMaintain compliance with GAAP, brand standards, management company policies, and ownership requirementsEstablish and enforce strong internal controls and audit readinessManage external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting as requiredCollaborate closely with Operations, Sales, HR, and Revenue Management to support business decisionsProvide financial guidance on labor management, purchasing, inventory, and expense controlsSupport pricing strategies, group profitability analysis, and margin optimizationTranslate financial data into clear, operationally relevant insights for department leadersLead, mentor, and develop the accounting teams across both hotelsEstablish clear expectations, workflows, and performance standardsBuild bench strength through training, coaching, and succession planningFoster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvementEnsure effective use of hotel financial systems (e.g., ERP, POS, labor, purchasing systems)Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracyPartner with corporate/shared services where applicable to streamline workflowsWhat are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum 5–7 years of progressive hotel finance experiencePrior experience as a Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance in a full-service hotelStrong understanding of hotel operations and financial driversProven ability to lead teams and partner cross-functionallyAdvanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systemsMulti-property or complex hotel experienceExperience with branded full-service or lifestyle hotelsCPA or MBA a plusExperience working directly with ownership and asset management groups#ZR250
