Be part of the development and execution of AWS Infrastructure's community engagement strategy in our most complex and high-profile market, this role demands exceptional program management expertise and sophisticated stakeholder engagement skills. The position requires demonstrated success in issues management, risk mitigation, and scaling community programs across multiple jurisdictions. This role will serve as a key strategic partner to the Americas leadership, driving standardization and operational excellence in community engagement during a period of unprecedented growth.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Program Leadership: • Design and implement scalable community engagement frameworks across Northern Virginia's rapidly expanding footprint • Drive operational excellence in high-stakes community programs, managing complex stakeholder relationships and critical issues • Lead program governance and risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions
Infrastructure Growth & Risk Management: • Partner with cross-functional teams to navigate community aspects of data center development and expansion • Develop and execute sophisticated issue management protocols for community concerns • Create proactive risk assessment frameworks and mitigation strategies for new site development
Stakeholder Engagement & Communications: • Serve as primary liaison with high-profile community partners, elected officials, and business leaders • Lead crisis communications and issue resolution with multiple stakeholder groups • Coordinate with Public Policy, Economic Development, and Legal teams on sensitive community matters
Program Execution & Measurement: • Establish program measurement frameworks and success metrics aligned with business objectives • Standardize processes for community program delivery and risk management • Drive continuous improvement in program effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction
Team Leadership & Alignment: • Provide strategic guidance to community engagement teams across multiple sites • Ensure alignment between local execution and regional objectives • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams including Operations, Legal, and Public Policy
This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of community dynamics, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships while driving tangible business results for AWS Infrastructure across the AMER region.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Community Engagement, Public Policy, Corporate Affairs or Communications or equivalent experience
- Proven track record developing and scaling multi-stakeholder partnerships with major nonprofits across diverse markets
- Deep understanding of community development principles, demographic trends, and regional policy landscapes
- Track record of planning and coordinating high-profile community events with executive participation
- Strong history of building sustainable relationships with community leaders and organization executives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
- Experience designing and executing large-scale community programs with measurable outcomes
- Success leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex initiatives and navigate stakeholder environments
- Expertise in establishing metrics, evaluation frameworks, and leveraging analytics for community programs
- Demonstrated ability to translate impact data into compelling narratives for diverse audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
