Commercial Summer Internship Program
The Commercial Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a look at Citizens Bank’s culture and exposure into one of the many commercial banking business lines through project-based assignments, learning curriculum, networking, volunteer opportunities and formal mentorship. Responsibilities will vary based on the group you’re assigned to and will leverage your unique skills and abilities. At the conclusion of the 10-week program, high-performing interns will be considered for a potential offer for direct employment into the Community Development team. Note that the Community Development team is in Boston, MA, and only candidates willing to relocate to Boston will be considered for the position.
Opportunities Overview:
Community Development (“CD”) is committed to building strong communities by working to ensure Citizens Bank offers innovative products and services aimed at fostering affordable housing, economic development, and neighborhood stabilization. This is achieved through a suite of debt and investment products which provide capital to low- to moderate-income communities within our footprint. We oversee a robust financial education program for the organization dedicated to helping families outside the financial mainstream develop better money management strategies.
Responsibilities:
Community Development is seeking a dynamic individual, who has an interest in making a difference in the community to participate in our Summer Internship program.
The Summer Intern will provide support in activities within the Community Development line of business, centered in the commercial lending and investing activities which advance the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act objectives.
The position will support key initiatives set to enhance the banks Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) performance.
Partner with Community Development Portfolio Management to provide client support for CD loans and investments originated by the CD Lending and Investment teams, by ensuring adherence to credit policy and requirements, financial analysis, risk evaluation and portfolio management activities.
Participate in updating quarterly portfolio data and conducting capital funding calls for investment portfolios.

Current students enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor’s program, graduating between Winter 2026 – Spring 2027 OR current students enrolled in a graduate program, graduating between Winter 2026 – Spring 2027
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Relevant work experience, leadership experience or coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors will be considered.
Strong analytical skills and software skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency is required.
Candidates must currently be a U.S. Resident to be eligible for this program.
Please note that U.S. Immigration sponsorship or work visa is not available for intern / full time Analyst positions and candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
