Job Summary: The Communication Clerk is the first telephonic point of contact for patients and assists with accurate routing of calls. Responsibilities include answering multi-line phone system, paging overhead codes, greeting hospital visitors in a warm and friendly manner utilizing excellent customer service skills, and providing assistance and directions to on-site customers, both internal and external. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, accurate typing skills, knowledge of office procedures, and ability to work independently required.\n

Job Responsibilities: \n\nGreeting callers in a welcoming and friendly manner.\nProper transfer of calls to appropriate departments.\nAnswers 22222 line quickly and pages appropriately.\nUtilizes RAVE system correctly.\nKnows enunciator panel\/alarm systems and notifies appropriate personnel in case of equipment failure or alarm activation.\nMaintains log of all codes.\nMaintains accurate patient and religious census records\nMaintains on-call schedules and daily on-call assignment sheets.\nGreets on-site customers appropriately.\nHandles general information questions and referrals correctly and efficiently.\nResponds to questions in accordance with hospital policy.\nFlexibility in assuming other appropriate responsibilities and duties not noted above.\n\n
Requirements: \n
Education: High school degree or equivalent.\n
Experience: Previous clerical and\/or healthcare experience preferred.\n
Hours:7am-3pm, 11am-7pm, 3pm-11pm\n

Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. use of computer keyboard). May require use of lifting and carrying light loads (up to 10 pounds). Sitting or standing\/walking for long periods of time.\n
