Digital Communication Intern (Communications Assistant C)

 

CONTEXT

The mission of the McGill Office of Sustainability (MOOS) is to create a culture of sustainability at McGill. We aim to identify, connect, and enhance efforts to incorporate principles of sustainability (environmental, social, and economic) into all areas of the University. MOOS provides the institutional memory and knowledge, the network of partnerships, the framework for sustainability at McGill (Climate & Sustainability Strategy), and the seed funding (Sustainability Projects Fund) to facilitate the sustainability efforts of students, faculty, and staff.

DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Communications Officer, the Digital Communication Intern will help manage the MOOS digital channels (social media, website, newsletter). This includes:

Creating, scheduling, and publishing content for LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook according to the MOOS content calendar.Producing short videos, reels, and photography to document campus sustainability initiatives and events.Updating the website and newsletter to ensure accurate, engaging information.Building online communities through interactive content and collaborating with McGill units for cross-promotion.Pitching content ideas, assisting with content calendar development, and working with the Graphic Design Intern on visual assets.Monitoring metrics (reach, engagement, growth) to refine digital strategies.Attending sustainability events to provide capture content.Attend sustainability events to provide live social media coverage.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Demonstrated experience creating and managing content for social media channels (e.g. Instagram, and Facebook).Experience shooting and editing videos for social media (reels)Proven experience writing for different audiencesDemonstrated photography experience in various lighting conditions.Highly organized and reliable, with the ability to manage time effectively and work independently.A genuine interest in digital marketing and environmental/social sustainability.Proficiency in French an asset.
