Communication Business Partner - Platform & Digital Product Management

Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Specialist to join the Cat Digital division. In this role, you will support the Digital Product Management and Digital Platform teams by leading internal and external communications that bring our digital strategy to life. You will play a key role in shaping narratives, elevating storytelling, and helping redefine what heavy industry looks like in the age of data, autonomy, and AI. From content development to measurement, you’ll support communications end‑to‑end and help ensure clarity, alignment and impact across the organization. **What you will do:** **Content Creation & Storytelling** + Modernize communication formats, styles and delivery mechanisms for the VP of Digital Product Management. + Work closely with the Cat Digital Communications team to translate initiatives into compelling stories and create a clear, cohesive narrative. **Internal Communications** + Create, manage, and deploy internal content to employees and key stakeholders. + Ensure communications support organizational priorities and strengthen engagement. **External Communications** + Develop external content partnering closely with the media team including press releases, executive talking points, media statements and materials for conferences and panels. + Write and refine clear, compelling narratives that reflect Digital Product Management and Digital Platform priorities and prepare leaders for external engagements. + Project‑manage all external communications through approvals, coordinating with legal, brand and cross‑functional teams to ensure accuracy, alignment and timely delivery. **Stakeholder Partnership & Advisory** + Serve as a trusted advisor to Digital Product Management and Digital Platform teams. + Shape messaging, guide communication strategy and support senior leaders. + Manage communication workflows, priorities and timelines. + Identify and address communication risks, sensitivities and change‑related impacts. **What You Will Have:** + **Creative Visual Storytelling:** Ability to create presentations and visuals that communicate complex information in a clear, compelling way. Skilled in applying creative thinking, tools and techniques across a range of business situations. + **Willingness to Dig and Learn:** Ability to ask strategic questions, quickly understand new concepts and build knowledge around the technology being deployed. Experience in tech (1–2 years) strongly preferred. + **Executive Partner:** Executive presence and the ability to confidently support senior and C‑suite leaders. Exercises strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information. + **Interpersonal Skills & Influencing:** Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of individuals and teams. Strong influencing skills with the ability to shape decisions within and beyond the immediate organization. + **Effective Communication:** Strong understanding of communication principles, tools and techniques. Able to clearly transmit, receive and interpret ideas and information across audiences. + **Initiative:** Proactive mindset with the ability to identify needs, take ownership and drive work forward independently. **Top candidates will also have:** + Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field (or equivalent experience). + 2+ years of experience in communications, PR, or a related field. + Experience working with international teams. + Solid project management skills across multiple stakeholders and deadlines. + Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive information. **Additional details:** + This position is ideally located in Peoria, IL, Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX. + Relocation is offered for this position. + Sponsorship is not offered. + Travel up to 25% **Summary Pay Range:** $112,710.00 - $169,060.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
