General Summary:
The primary focus of the communication and community outreach specialist will be to foster the University’s relationship with the community through service, communication, and outreach efforts. This position will provide the overall organizational and administrative support of the communication and community outreach initiative and engage with campus site visits for priority guests of the president’s office and special events hosted by the president’s office. Moreover, as relationships are continually developed and nurtured in the community and ideation continues to magnify communication and outreach, this position will support the development of processes to best incorporate agility and efficiency. Other duties as assigned, including occasional work outside ordinary business hours.
Responsibilities:
+ [ PRESIDENT’S COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH INITIATIVE] This position will provide the overall organizational and administrative support of the communication and community outreach initiative, a subdivision within the president’s office. This position will oversee the database management of the president’s community outreach initiative, and analyze the database management trends in order for the president to target and regulate correspondence needs in the rural communities in the state of Texas. This position will monitor the social media efforts of constituents important to the University [i.e. legislators, community colleges, Region 16 and Region 17 high schools, etc.]. This position will serve as the chief editor for communication and community outreach (CCO) components that include the president’s signature, and manage the CCO tasks within the Monday.com software. Represents and promotes a positive image of the President, the University, and The Texas A&M University System as a whole. Supervises the communication and community outreach student interns and is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, task delegation management, and performance management of the students, as well as co-leading student intern meetings.
+ [COMMUNICATION PRODUCTION] The communication responsibilities of this position for the president will change from project to project to include but are not limited to press release writer and small-scale video production roles: project manager, director, photographer, producer, lighting tech, audio tech, scriptwriter, researcher, camera operator, editor, etc. This position will be an end-user of video equipment/software to include but is not limited to Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Premiere, Canva, YouTube, Tentacle Recording App and Audio Recorder with Lavalier Mic and Timecode Support, Canon Camcorder, Aputure Multicolor LED light, Glide Gear iPad Smartphone Teleprompter, and other tools as needed.
+ COMMUNICATION PROJECTS] This position will provide research and data for communication projects for the president. This position will assist with the development, database management, and distribution of communication projects as well as review final communication projects for the president, including but not limited to the president’s op-ed posts and op-ed photos, e-books, radio shows, requests of the president forms for speaking engagements [welcome remarks, keynote speeches, closing remarks, etc.], and PowerPoint presentations. This position will serve as part of WT Communicators, an alliance of university communication and marketing professionals to discuss each division’s current communication efforts as well as collaborate on communication outreach ideas, ensuring cohesive university-wide communication efforts.
+ SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT] This position will assist with the social media efforts of the president, including assisting with the use of social media analytics and strategies to increase the exposure and engagement of social media for the president.
+ Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
+ Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
+ Ability to network and develop working relationships.
+ Exceptional organizational skills with knowledge of project management.
+ Must be results-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of the President’s Office.
+ Strong computer and technological skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) researching, and internet navigation.
+ Must be able to maintain a high level of diplomacy, integrity, and the demonstrated ability to deal confidentially with sensitive situations and information. Embrace and support the University’s missions, vision, and core values.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree preferred.
+ News production experience.
