The Commercial Data & Insights Manager works to deliver exceptional, cutting‑edge analytics, meaningful insights, and seamless coordination that empower Commercial to thrive. They establish the conditions, frameworks, and governance that turn data into trusted, reusable assets and accelerate decision‑making at enterprise scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesSets the foundational conditions for curated, governed, and discoverable datasets that enable advanced analytics, predictive intelligence, and AI adoption.Enhances trust and confidence in commercial data and analytics; reduce barriers to insight; integrate advanced capabilities into business processes.Delivers a best‑in‑class suite of analytical tools and services with superior speed and quality through strong business and technical acumen.Meets with Commercial leaders to understand needs and set priorities for analytics initiatives Shapes and influences enterprise direction for data platforms and governance—align Commercial with the Insights & Discovery Platform (IDP), a unified BI strategy (Power BI), and metadata/data‑quality practices (Purview, Profisee), consolidating shadow systems and standardizing the analytics stack.Champions the Data Product operating model and the Data Governance Council—clarify roles (Owners, Stewards, Custodians), policies, and guardrails; drive catalog completeness, quality monitoring, and stewardship across portfolios.Codifies the Commercial analytics framework (principles, standards, patterns) so analysts across business lines can build on trusted data, reusable semantic models, and approved tooling.Liaisons with enterprise IT/A&I and product teams to translate business context into platform enablement, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, cost‑effective, and value‑focused.Promotes data as an enterprise asset—right data, right people, right time—through lifecycle management from generation to insight.Evolves insights from descriptive to predictive/prescriptive, embedding models into decision workflows and market‑sensing products; lead pilots that demonstrate measurable value before scaling enterprise‑wide.Prepare the organization for AI by ensuring governed data, model oversight, ethical use guidelines, and observability/monitoring are in place; drive training and adoption paths for analysts and business users.Develops critical capabilities (Insights, Data Product Management, Innovation, Data Strategy, Commercial Knowledge) and upskill analysts on enterprise standards, governance, and modern engineering practices.Fosters a high‑performance culture with shared patterns, paired delivery, and communities of practice that accelerate throughput and consistency.Partners with analysts throughout the Commercial organization to offer support and enhance the organization analytical capability Develops the team to understand the business and business process to provide career growth and backfill for Commercial positionsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Required:
Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or Data Analytics.8+ years of experience in oil and gas or energy markets with emphasis on planning, analysis, and data insights.Proven track record of translating technical model outputs into actionable commercial or operational recommendations.Demonstrated experience leading analytical, reporting, or insights teams in cross-functional environments.Preferred:
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Economics, Data Analytics, or a quantitative discipline.Experience integrating data insights into performance management or KPI frameworks.Strong commercial acumen and the ability to partner effectively with Commercial, Corporate, Operations, and Digital functions.Familiarity with BI/reporting platforms and AI-assisted analytics for self-serve insight generation.As an energy industry leader, our career opportunities fuel personal and professional growth.
