We are seeking a skilled Coil Winder to operate coil winding machines to produce medium voltage transformer coils with precision and accuracy. This position requires expertise in blueprint reading and machine operation, ensuring that all work adheres to quality and safety standards.
ResponsibilitiesOperate coil winding machines to produce medium voltage transformer coils to specified dimensions and tolerances.Interpret and follow mechanical drawings, winding diagrams, and work orders.Measure and cut conductor material (copper or aluminum) accurately.Maintain proper insulation layering, taping, and tension control throughout the winding process.Use overhead cranes to load/unload coil forms, wire spools, and other materials as needed.Set up winding machines with appropriate tools, guides, insulation, and conductor materials.Perform in-process inspections and record critical dimensions and data.Ensure that all work meets quality and safety standards.Clean and maintain winding equipment and work area.Collaborate with engineering and quality departments for any discrepancies or improvements.Follow all company policies, including safety protocols, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
Essential Skills2+ years of machine operation experience.2+ years of blueprint reading experience.2+ years utilizing measuring devices.Proficiency in coil winding, mechanical assembly, and using power tools.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and winding diagrams.
Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.1+ years of experience in transformer coil winding or similar electrical/mechanical assembly work preferred.Basic math and measuring skills (tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc.).Familiarity with operating overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a standing position for extended periods.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic, with a shift starting at 5:00 AM and ending at 1:30 PM during the summer. It is not climate controlled, so it can be hot during the summer months. Employees are expected to adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
