Job Title: Coating Operator

Job Description

Perform manual spray and operate PVA machine to apply conformal coating on electronic assemblies, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. This role involves masking on assemblies using hot melt machine or manual taping as required, potting of electronic assemblies per work instructions, and performing coating touch-ups and quality inspections to meet workmanship standards.

Work Environment

The work environment is organized, clean, and quiet with a large facility comprising multiple departments on the production floor. Employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, high noise levels from operating machinery, or physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts. The workplace culture is positive and respectful, fostering an inclusive environment with a strong mix of women and men across teams. The environment can be louder during morning shifts and quieter in the afternoon. You will be part of a team of 50, and the dress code includes wearing a provided smock, shoe covers, ear plugs, goggles, and closed-toe shoes. Shifts include both morning and afternoon options.

Responsibilities

Engage in the setup and operation of basic manufacturing equipment according to existing specifications, ensuring adherence to safety standards. Perform routine production tasks.Manually assemble electronic components, including complex and high-density projects, according to assembly documentation, custom specs, and quality standards.Operate various types of equipment aiding in the assembly process.Perform final assembly and/or pack and ship as required.Install, mount, fasten, align, and adjust parts, components, wiring, and harnesses to sub-assemblies and assemblies.Communicate effectively with team members, leads, and engineering support regarding process issues or quality concerns.Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, tools, and equipment. Complete production documentation accurately, including job travelers and logs.Follow safety requirements and processes while performing work and report any unsafe equipment or conditions immediately.Mask parts to meet dimensions as instructed in the assembly document. Perform potting process using specific machine and handle and mix coating materials safely following Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines.Operate the PVA machine for automated dispensing/conformal coating, perform safety checks, and inspect coated boards for quality control.Load chemical into spray tank and perform manual conformal coating when required.

Essential Skills

Experience following strict processes and procedures.Ability to wear PPE all day.Physical capability for bending, lifting, and crouching.Attention to detail in assembly, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, soldering assembly, PCBA assembly, SMT soldering, and thru-hole soldering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Direct experience in a similar role.Experience with chemicals.Flexibility and willingness to learn.Ability to work well in a team environment, maintaining a positive attitude.
