POSITION SUMMARY
The Co-Occurring Therapist/ Specialist participates with the treatment team in developing the multidisciplinary plan according to departmental standards. The Co-Occurring Therapist/ Specialist performs patient assessments and functions as a primary group therapist for co-occurring diagnosis groups. The Co-Occurring Therapist/Specialist also provides in-service training to unit staff for co-occurring group therapy.
This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. The Co-Occurring Therapist/Specialist works as part of the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patient and to support departmental objectives. This position provides quality customer service, participates in performance improvement efforts and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Completing bio psychosocial assessments and preparing a comprehensive treatment plan in coordination with the treatment team Provides competent individual, family, couples, group psychotherapy and substance use therapy Provides other therapeutic services, within scope of demonstrated competence, as required Assists with case management and interagency coordination of services for clients. Knowledgeable of and competent in assessing for level of care utilizing an evidenced based tool Actively and competently makes recommendations on referrals based on level of care assessment Provides clinical guidance and appropriate interaction with internal and external providersQUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CADC or LCADC is required upon hire or transfer. American Heart Association BLS is required within 90 days of hire or transfer. CPI required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. Annual Education requirements are tracked by department leadership annually.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years mental health or related experience preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards of the hospital environment, such as exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous waste, and potential injury. This position requires standing, reaching and walking. Essential functions of this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Director of Hospital Based Behavioral Health Services.
