Job Title: CNC Trainer

Job Description

We are seeking a high-volume CNC Machining Trainer and Technical Subject Matter Expert to support the CSS Diesel manufacturing program. This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and reinforcing CNC machining knowledge across a large machinist workforce while serving as the on-site expert for machining processes and measurement systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver structured CNC machining training programs for machinists across multiple skill levels.Train machinists on GD&T fundamentals and advanced application aligned with quality standards.Provide instruction on measurement techniques, inspection strategies, and part validation using CMM systems (Zeiss).Conduct classroom, shop-floor, and one-on-one training sessions.Evaluate machinist skill levels and recommend targeted development plans.Standardize machining and inspection best practices across shifts and teams.Serve as the primary CNC and machining process expert for CSS Diesel operations.Support production teams with troubleshooting machining, measurement, and quality issues.Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to optimize machining processes.Assist with new launches, process changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.Support root cause analysis related to machining defects or dimensional variation.Provide technical expertise and training on GROB machining centers and FANUC CNC controls.Support best practices for setup, tool management, offsets, and process control in a high-volume environment.

Essential Skills

10+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.Demonstrated experience training or mentoring machinists (formal or informal).Strong working knowledge of GD&T and functional dimensioning principles.Extensive experience with CMM inspection systems, specifically Zeiss systems.Experience working with FANUC controls.Experience supporting or operating GROB and/or NTC machining centers.Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in automotive or diesel engine manufacturing.Prior experience as a technical trainer, lead machinist, or process specialist.Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality systems.Experience supporting new product launches or production transfers.Understanding of OEM or Tier-1 OEM manufacturing standards.

Work Environment

The role is situated in a plant floor engine assembly setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Flint, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $62.00/hr.
