CNC Mill Set Up Machinist - Poway
**CNC Mill Set Up Machinist - Poway - 2nd Shift - $30/hr-$35/hr** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our 2nd shift, from 3pm to 11:30pm. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Vertical mill HASS VF2, VF4, VF6, and other related machinery. This role requires expertise in operating and programming CNC machines to produce precision parts while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. **Responsibilities** + Set up, program, and operate all 3, 5-axis and vertical CNC machining equipment utilizing a wide range of controls. + Perform job set-up using traditional clamping methods, vices, and custom work holding fixtures. + Read and interpret blueprints to maintain dimensions within tolerances of precision machined parts. + Monitor machining processes and adjust setups as needed. + Complete documentation as required by assigned tasks. + Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, pin gauges, and gauge blocks accurately. + Work with lead and operators to ensure high quality of parts by closely monitoring and adjusting operation of machine and/or tooling while regularly inspecting parts for conformance to requirements. + Detect and correct minor malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. + Troubleshoot and resolve all machine operation issues with assistance from Programming, Engineering, and Maintenance. + Communicate daily with Supervisors, leads, and other employees. + Work with Engineering to develop work instructions for developmental jobs. + Collaborate with Tool Crib Attendant, Engineering, and Maintenance to maintain machine-specific tools and consumables to ensure effective operation of equipment. + Manage time to meet routed cycle and set-up times on all work orders. + Perform equipment maintenance and clean work area to promote efficient workflow and safe working environment. + Provide training to other operators and maintain workstation and setup carts to 5S standards. + Maintain a high standard of quality work within organization's environmental, health, and safety standards. + Other duties as assigned. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of 10 years of experience in setting up and operating CNC machines using solid models and drawings to produce tight tolerance parts. + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. + Proficiency in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery used for computer-aided manufacturing. + Knowledge of operating grinders, lathes, and milling machines. + Effective decision-making skills for machining methods, work holding methods, and tooling selection. + Ability to improve process operations to optimize yields. + Ability to read all views blueprint and Datum call-outs, process documentation, and inspection measuring devices. + Strong math skills for precise measurements and calculations. + Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot production issues. + Experience with shop standard tools and efficient tooling setup and validation. + Capability to write simple programs. + Ability to perform vacuum, 4th axis Trunnion, and 5th axis machine setups. + Experience in programming and building fixtures for complex parts. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Significant hands-on experience working on a production floor. + Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion. + Customer-oriented with good communication skills. **Why Work Here?** Join a company that offers ample overtime opportunities, growth potential, and a boot voucher once you become a direct hire. Occasional lifting and climbing balancing are required, as well as the ability to lift and move roughly 50-70 pounds. Specific vision abilities such as close vision are necessary. The noise level is usually loud, and hazardous equipment exposure occurs weekly. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
