2nd Shift Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled 2nd Shift Machinist to join our team at a large aerospace manufacturer in Fullerton. The successful candidate will work on a variety of 5 Axis Milling Machines and operate various CNC and conventional machines. This role offers the potential for a lead or supervisor position for candidates with appropriate experience.

ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate conventional lathe, knee and column mill, drill press, surface grinder, and honing machines.Set up and operate CNC Vertical Mills (3, 4, and 5 axis) and CNC Lathes (4 axis with live tooling and sub-spindle).Perform various operations in cutting and shaping metal to precise dimensions within the prescribed tolerance.Select the correct speed and feeds for various materials according to designated operations to ensure high efficiency and quality workmanship.Hold close tolerances to the standards outlined on the route sheet.Perform first article inspections.Essential SkillsMinimum of five years of experience in the operation of all types of lathes, mills, drill presses, and numeric-controlled machines.Thorough understanding of setting tool offsets and live tooling (milling cutters).Knowledge of setting up CNC lathe/mill operations for use with ferrous, bar, and extrusion in various alloys.Strong knowledge of calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and various other measuring instruments.Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering data.Ability to edit programs (G&M codes).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Mori Seiki 5 Axis, HAAS 4-Axis, and Mazak 4-Axis machines.Experience with blueprints and conventional manual machining.Lead or manager experience is a plus.Programming experience.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment includes a large machine shop with various CNC lathes and mills, as well as conventional machines. This is a 2nd shift position with flexible start times between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM for 8-hour shifts.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fullerton, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
