Job Title: Machinist and ProgrammerJob Description

Operate both manual and CNC equipment, including programming and set-up, to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools. Review drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production and take precise measurements for cutting or shaping. Ensure quality assurance of manufactured parts.

ResponsibilitiesReview samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.Run CNC machines to produce tools and parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements.Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature, and identify issues.Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.Participate in brainstorming and problem-solving with Engineering and Production personnel.Perform preventive and basic maintenance to equipment.Recommend new technologies for continuous improvement.Work with composites and other materials.Comply with work instructions for all machining operations.Comply with safety rules and regulations during the course of duties.Essential SkillsCNC machine operationProgrammingCAD/CAMG-codeCNC MachiningComposite machiningWorking knowledge of CADCAM softwareKnowledge and experience using G-Code ProgrammingPrevious CNC machining experienceThree axis millingUnderstanding of material properties and characteristicsWorking knowledge of various measuring gauges: micrometers, pin gauges, dial indicator, screw pitch gauge, height gauge, and comparator stand/gaugeAbility to do trigonometry and general math computationsAbility to read blueprints, schematics, and manualsAbility to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical peopleAdditional Skills & QualificationsAdvanced Computer Knowledge recommendedComposite machining preferredBobCAD/Esprit CNC programmingOkuma Control experienceFive axis lathe experience preferredWork Environment

This work is typically performed while standing for long periods in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $45.00/hr.
