Cnc Lathe Machinist
**Job Title: CNC Machinist** Job Description We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. This position involves setting up and operating CNC machines to ensure efficient production and high-quality output. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical experience and the ability to work independently while maintaining a focus on safety and quality standards. Responsibilities + Set up jobs by checking work instructions, material type, and size. + Receive, load, and adjust CNC programs for optimal production and efficiency. + Multi-task and oversee multiple machines to maximize efficiency. + Manufacture or select appropriate tooling and fixtures for job completion. + Run production, including secondary operations, within the routed timeframe on various machinery and equipment. + Visually inspect production for surface finish and defects such as burrs, scratches, and rust. + Conduct product quality checks against blueprints or drawings using measuring equipment. + Count, mark, and pack parts as needed. + Perform mechanical tasks like loading and unloading vises, fixtures, and parts. + Return tools to the Tool crib and measuring equipment to the Quality Department. + Communicate instructions and oversee jobs run by lower-skilled personnel. + Maintain a neat and orderly work area. + Complete Operations Sheet and other documents neatly and accurately. + Utilize Real-Time Data Collection for logging production hours. + Work with Lead or Engineering to ensure accurate setup and estimated run times. + Comply with company and machine safety policies and procedures. + Follow M&R Company Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures. + Communicate production information such as quality issues and scrap rates to appropriate personnel. + Participate in activities to improve personal skills and departmental processes. + Follow all written and oral instructions effectively. + Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others. + Accept and complete other duties as assigned to meet company needs. Essential Skills + Expert technical ability to set up and run secondary operations, including drill press, deburring, and polishing. + Ability to load, unload tools, and enter offsets as necessary. + Expert technical ability to read, modify, and edit programs. + Expert ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and customer specifications. + Strong ability to use and interpret calibrated metrology devices for piece part inspection. + Distinguish different raw materials such as Stainless Steel vs. Cold Rolled Steel. + Understand machining properties of various raw materials like 303SST vs. 304SST. + Maintain working knowledge of appropriate mathematical skills, including basic trigonometry. + Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. + OSHA-required training in Lock-out/Tag-out, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Emergency Evacuation. + In-house training on all assigned machinery and equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Accountable for accurate job setup and meeting rates in the Operations Sheet. + Accountable for the quality of parts and following established processes. Work Environment Work on a 2nd shift schedule from 2pm-10:30pm, currently working 9 hours a day from 6am-3:30pm or 5am-2:30pm. Expect to work 50 hours a week when fully trained. The position is in a smaller shop with 22 workers on the 1st shift and features 6 brand new CNC machines. This job shop environment focuses on low quantity runs, typically between 20-100 pieces. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Elk Grove Village, Illinois. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $68000.00/yr. Insurance is mostly paid for by M&R, but there are employee contributions also. We have 4 Aetna medical plans to choose from, 2 MetLife dental plans to choose from, vision, life and 401k. Medical prices range from as low as $31 contribution, all the way up to $350, depending on the selections.
