**Job Title: Lathe Machinist**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled 1st shift Lathe Machinist to machine details from plate or flat stock according to blueprints to exact dimensions and details of various shapes and materials. You will operate a Haas 3-axis Lathe, perform set up and tool changes, edit G&M codes for feeds and speeds, and conduct quality inspections using micrometers and calipers. The position involves producing components for hot runners used in the plastic injection industry, working with materials like steel, copper, and nickel.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate and set up Haas 3-axis Lathe machines.
+ Edit and program G&M codes for machine operations.
+ Perform quality inspections on parts using micrometers and calipers.
+ Conduct routine machine maintenance.
+ Measure parts to ensure conformance with specifications.
+ Replace tool inserts as necessary.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and measuring tools.
+ Work independently in a dynamic environment.
**Essential Skills**
+ Strong understanding of G&M codes.
+ Ability to program CNC from a print using templates, macros, and parametric.
+ Excellent set-up skills for small lot sizes.
+ Minimum 3 years of CNC Lathe setup and operation experience.
+ Experience with Haas or Fanuc controls for editing G&M codes.
+ Proficiency in reading blueprints and using digital micrometers and calipers.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Programming experience is a plus.
+ Capacity to work with multiple materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and hardened steel.

**Work Environment**
The shop is climate-controlled and provides a clean and organized environment. Employees work 40-56 hours per week, with available shifts including 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm or 5:30pm when busy, and 2nd shift from 7pm to 3:30am or 5:30am when busy, with a 10% shift premium. Saturday shifts may be required, working 6 hours from 2pm-8pm for 2nd shift.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, Michigan.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
