Role Summary

As a Senior CNC Grinder Machinist, you will set up, program, and operate Studer CNC grinding equipment to produce extremely tight-tolerance components. This role supports one of the most critical machining work centers in the shop and is intended for a highly experienced machinist, not an entry-level operator. The ideal candidate brings hands-on programming experience, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to independently hold precision tolerances with minimal supervision.

This is a 1st shift position Monday-Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

Set up and operate Studer CNC grinders for ID, OD, face, and grooving operationsCreate, edit, and prove out programs directly at the machine using Fanuc controlsPerform complex setups including chuck jaw changes, magnetic chuck applications, and wheel dressingInterpret blueprints, GD&T, and job specifications to achieve extremely tight tolerancesUse advanced precision gauging and inspection techniques, including first article inspectionTroubleshoot machining, tooling, and material issues to maintain quality and efficiencyPerform routine machine maintenance and follow all safety and compliance standardsCommunicate effectively with team members, trainers, and leadership

Requirements:

5+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environmentCNC grinding experience (Studer strongly preferred)Experience holding tight tolerances on precision componentsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and GD&TProficient use of precision measuring instrumentsHands-on Fanuc control experienceHigh School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

Manual programming experience using G & M codesEngine lathe experienceExperience with program prove-out and first article inspectionsBackground in toolroom or high-precision machining environments
