Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Technician to join our team. This role will be responsible for producing daily field reports on Concrete Testing, Basic Construction Quality Assurance (CQA), and Geosynthetics. The position involves overseeing contractor activities, performing field tests, and providing comprehensive documentation for environmental and construction projects.

Responsibilities

Produce daily field reports on Concrete Testing, Basic CQA, and Geosynthetics.Oversee contractor activities and performance on remediation, landfill construction, and industrial process projects.Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, aggregates, and other materials.Monitor job site activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, including technical specifications and construction drawings.Provide CQA monitoring for various construction and environmental activities.Conduct multi-media sampling for investigations and monitoring programs.Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules, and progress reports.Ensure project documentation is accurate and consistent with company policies.Interact with project personnel to foster an integrated team approach.Assist in preparing final reports, work plans, and health and safety documents.Observe and comply with site-specific project health and safety plans.

Essential Skills

2+ years of experience in Construction Material Testing (Concrete, Soils, and Geosynthetics).Experience in Concrete Testing with ACI and Geosynthetics.Ability to comprehend construction plans and specifications.Basic mathematical skills including geometry and algebra.Proficient in report writing and basic PC use, including Microsoft Office.Experience with multi-media sampling (soil, water, air, geosynthetics).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Nuclear Gauge, ACI, and ICC Soils Certifications are a plus.Water sampling experience is advantageous.Self-starter with a trustworthy nature and punctuality.Experience in soil density testing, liner installation, and contractor oversight.

Work Environment

The role involves extensive fieldwork and travel, including overnights, weekends, and holidays. The work environment is primarily outdoors, requiring a strong interest in environmental consulting. Standard work hours are 10-hour days from 7 am to 5 or 6 pm, with occasional Saturdays. The position offers great overtime options and involves 100% travel for the first couple of months for training, followed by local assignments in the Richmond area. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
