Substance Use Disorders are chronic illnesses, and treatment provided is based upon the presenting needs of the individual. Our goal is to help individuals and families begin the physical, emotional and spiritual healing process by utilizing compassionate, encouraging and evidence-based practices. We ultimately strive to guide individuals, and their families, towards a goal of living life to its full potential-free from addiction. JOB PURPOSE: Under the purview of the Program Director, the Clinical Supervisor leads all clinical aspects of an inpatient substance use disorder treatment program. Supervising and monitoring the work of clinical staff in the provision of substance abuse treatment services and aftercare planning for assigned clients. SCOPE OF INFLUENCE: * Provide assessment, individual and group counseling, case management, utilization review, crisis intervention and other services as necessary to adults with substance use diagnoses (and their families/significant others) * Group and individual supervision of clinical counseling staff and interns * Partner with referral sources, providing regular updates and progress on clients * Partner with multi-disciplinary team in assessing diagnoses, planning treatment, providing coverage of clients’ individual and group sessions, and offering clinical insight and expertise * Facilitate the integration of clinical, medical, mental health and recreation services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Administration and Supervision: 45% * Foster a setting for clinical staff development by providing clinical supervision and coaching to assigned clinical staff and interns * Participate in evaluation of assigned staff and interns * Co-lead regularly scheduled case conference meetings, weekly communication meetings, and other staff meetings * Monitor attainment of goals and effectiveness of services and ensure that program goals are reached * Participate in preparation of reports and records related to the activities and accomplishments of the program * Ensure delivery of high-quality services * Provides training for counseling staff in the use of evidence-based curriculum * Reviews and approves clinical documentation, treatment progress, treatment plans, and client coordination of care plan. * Conduct chart audits and supervision to ensure all client record keeping follows agency, city, state, and federal requirements * Assist in the Continuing Quality Improvement process and active participation on the CQI Committee * Monitor and support Utilization Review and authorizations for treatment to ensure current clinical assessments and clinical services meet MCO standards for individualized care. * Participate in Leadership and Coaching workshops provided in-house Clinical: 50% * Acts as the clinical leader and model for trauma informed clinical practices in the program * Models early therapeutic engagement by introducing self to each new resident * Engages residents in clinical intervention and crisis intervention * Participates in resident town halls, community meetings, and seminars to communicate program values * Provides clients with individual and group counseling in accordance with treatment plan * Facilitates and co-leads group counseling sessions * May cover clinical groups and caseload of up to 10 cases in the absence of a clinician Other: 5% * Attend supervisory meetings, special agency staff meetings, and trainings * Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor JOB REQUIREMENTS: Required Knowledge: + NY State Clinical License; LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW + Advance or Master CASAC preferred + OASAS Clinical Supervision Foundations I&II (may be completed within first 90 days of employment) * Minimum of 2 years of direct clinical supervision experience treating substance use disorder Expertise in evidence-based practices * Ability to supervise and provide clinical guidance to staff and interns (SIFI certification a plus) * Familiarity with regulations from OASAS, JCAHO and Medicaid * Ability to multitask and handle challenging situations in a professional and courteous manner * Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information * Willingness to work as part of a team * Must be organized, self-motivated, a team player, and computer literate * Proficient with Electronic Medical Records
