The CNL oversees the lateral integration of care for a distinct group of patients. The CNL puts evidence-based practice into action to ensure that patients benefit from the latest innovations in care delivery. The CNL collects and evaluates patient outcomes, assesses cohort risk, and has the decision-making authority to change care plans when necessary. This clinician functions as part of an inter-professional team by communicating, planning, and implementing care directly with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, social workers, clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners. The CNL is a leader in healthcare delivery across all settings, not just in acute care.
The CNL works in conjunction with the Nursing Leadership team to develop educate and evaluate reliable care for the specialty populations. CNLs are clinical experts in a specialized area of nursing practice and in the delivery of evidence-based nursing interventions. CNLs are instrumental in evaluating practice of nurse's in the specialty areas as well as have influence in hiring, orientation and disciplinary actions.
The CNL will provide clinical and professional leadership. The CNL will be responsible for unit professional development and education of clinical staff to ensure all practice standards are maintained for patient safety and departmental expectations.
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited professional School of Nursing
Current Massachusetts nursing license
Masters of Science in Nursing or enrolled
BCLS required - for Med-Surg, OR and MCH
ACLS required - for Critical Care & Telemetry, EC
NRP required for MCH
Demonstrated skills in patient care, leadership & interpersonal relationships

Minimum of 5 years of specialty experience
Certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader or proof of current enrollment in a CNL program
