The Clinical Fellow – Speech Language Pathology will provide direct home, center-based, and telehealth parent training and patient care for assessing and treating communication (i.e., speech/language), oral motor, and feeding/swallowing disorders; administering department and program functions; maintaining documentation relative to services offered; and participation in intra and interdisciplinary training programs. In addition, the incumbent assists the family with appropriate referrals within Kennedy Krieger and in the community (i.e., school, medical, social, etc.). This position will have a variety of training opportunities, and this assignment provides temporary employment opportunities to coincide with and supplement the Clinical Fellow training experience.

Responsibilities Provide parent training and therapy programs that focus on resolving an identified condition or diminishing its functional impact, with consideration given to setting clear and measurable goals and incorporating child and family needs, interests, abilities, and perspective. Utilize a range of techniques to engage children and families.Provide home, telehealth and center-based functional communication (i.e., speech and language), oral motor, and feeding assessments to determine presence and (where detected) degree of handicapping conditions, with consideration to child and family’s needs.Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources, as well as other Institute and community providers, to assist in service coordination and to foster productive community relationships.Maintain documentation consistent with Institute and Department expectations for all activities, as well as guidelines by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), COMAR, and relevant accreditation agencies.Participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities relative to patient care (e.g., team conferences) and professional training (e.g., staff development activities).Participate in departmental activities and outreach activities in the community (e.g., presentations, services on committees). Qualifications Must possess and maintain Speech-Language Pathologist – Limited License through the Maryland Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers and Speech Language Pathologists.Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.

 

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements, required.

Minimum pay range USD $70,000.00/Yr. Maximum pay range USD $72,000.00/Yr.
