Work Shift: Per Diem (PD) Days / Evenings 8 - 20 hrs. per week, depending on workload Work Location: University of Miami Hospital & Clinics - Radiology Imaging UTower CORE JOB SUMMARY The Clinic Assistant performs a variety of clerical duties associated with patient care unit operations, and handles administrative duties, including filing records, scheduling lab work and hospital admissions, making follow-up calls to patients, phoning in prescriptions, and calling to get lab test results.CORE JOB FUNCTIONS1. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.2. Assembles, completes, and processes patients’ charts.3. Keeps patient records accurately identified.4. Maintains an accurate clinical record, recording information per hospital policy.5. Transcribes doctors’ orders, checks charts for incomplete histories and operative summaries, and reports any issues to appropriate member of the healthcare team for correction.6. Orders unit supplies to maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.7. Assists with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies brought to the unit.8. Obtains laboratory and x-ray reports and notifies doctors of results.9. Utilizes IDX RIS/PACS to track patient arrival times and advises front desk personnel of patient delays to maintain daily schedule.10. Greets patients upon arrival and verifies patient information.11. Directs patient to the dressing room and ensures patient changes into a gown and removes all metal items from their person.12. Assists in copying completed patient paperwork, delivering originals to front desk, and distributing copies to appropriate reading rooms.13.
