Carelon Client Development Director
The Client Development Director serves as the market quarterback, responsible for owning internal client relationships, driving growth, and ensuring market-level execution in partnership with Carelon and Elevance business units. This role combines strategic client development with operational accountability, ensuring Carelon delivers measurable cost-of-care and customer experience outcomes across assigned markets.
LOCATION: Hybrid 2: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

Client Development & Growth
Positions Carelon’s value proposition for assigned market(s), including identifying tailored solutions that deliver measurable cost-of-care savings and quality improvements.
Builds and maintains trusted relationships with market executives and client stakeholders, serving as the single point of accountability for market-level relationships
Market Leadership & Execution
Acts as the Carelon Behavioral Health market steward, ensuring operational cadence, escalations, and delivery plans are executed with discipline.
Partners with Carelon Health Cost of Care on deployment of cost-of-care solutions; ensure initiatives move through stage-gates on time and achieve intended ROI.
Accountable for client implementations and outcomes, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and recognition of value.
Strategic Alignment & Reporting
Collaborates across Carelon Health businesses to provide consistent customer experience, reporting and governance across markets.
Applies data insights and dashboards to frame market priorities, identify risks, and guide decision-making.
Elevates the voice of the customer into actionable insights, informing Carelon business strategy, product priorities, and market-specific investment decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement
Builds effective networks across BUs, operations, and clinical teams.
Serves as the voice of the client to Carelon, ensuring alignment of solutions with market needs.
Partners with HR, Finance, and Product to support enablement and organizational readiness for new client solutions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a BA/BS in health care related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience in account management, sales and/or operations in the health care industry; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
PREFERRED SKILLS, CAPABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCES:
MBA preferred.
7–10+ years of experience in healthcare account management, operations, or consultative sales (payer/provider/services).
Demonstrated success growing and sustaining complex healthcare partnerships.
Demonstrated ability to engage senior market executives, with strong executive presence and influence.
Strong project management discipline: experience with stage-gates, readiness checklists, and risk logs.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills; able to simplify complexity and escalate with options, not problems.
