Job Description
We are seeking Cleared Structural Welders for local work with the ability to travel. The initial testing and subsafe will be conducted locally in Chesapeake for a few weeks, requiring candidates to be local to the area. Welders will be welding Carbon Steel in three positions for the weld test, which will be x-rayed if passed visually. This is a travel-open position with specific physical and safety requirements.
ResponsibilitiesWeld materials in accordance with Task Group Instruction (TGI).Lay out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints.Locate and mark reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.Position and install parts in hull of ship, assisted by rigger, working with welders.Roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery such as plate rolls, presses, and bending brakes.Install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.Essential SkillsProficiency in Mig welding, SMAW welding, Tig welding, and Flux Core welding.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Experience in fabrication and structural shipyard welding.5+ years of experience as a shipboard welder.Active security clearance.Additional Skills & QualificationsPerform welding on Carbon Steel in three positions for weld testing.Complete subsafe testing locally in Chesapeake.Travel to various locations as required for job assignments.Undergo a respirator physical at the worksite.Adhere to OSHA standards and pass a standard 5-panel drug test.Why Work Here?

Work in a shipyard setting in various locations. The role requires adherence to strict safety standards and procedures, including OSHA compliance and passing a standard 5-panel drug test. Candidates must be prepared for physical demands, including respirator use.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
