Job Title: Cleared Outside Machinist (2nd Class)Job Description

We are seeking experienced 2nd Class Outside Machinists with active or recent secret security clearance to join our team. The role involves the overhaul and repair of pumps, motors, valves, and other auxiliary equipment, specifically requiring submarine torpedo tube or sail experience. The position is based at HII and NNSY in Virginia.

ResponsibilitiesOverhaul and repair pumps, motors, valves, and other auxiliary equipment.Perform open, inspect, and repair work on components of marine sea water, hydraulic, and diesel systems.Repair and restore propulsion shaft, shaft couplings, or vibration reducers.Remove, inspect, and repair various fairwater, stern plane, and/or steering & diving system components.Conduct general repairs on components such as periscopes, masts, and antennas of submarine sail.Repair and overhaul ship's weapons and ordinance systems, including torpedo tubes and launchers.Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and principal structures/components.
Essential SkillsExperience as a Machinist Mate or Engineman.Active secret or confidential security clearance or one within the last 24 months.Specific experience with submarine torpedo tubes or sail systems.
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in marine sea water, hydraulic, and diesel systems repair.Skills in propulsion shaft, shaft couplings, or vibration reducers restoration.Ability to work on steering & diving system components.

Work Environment

The position is based in a shipyard environment. Trade personnel are required to provide their own 'tools of the trade' and personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toed shoes. Hard hats, safety glasses, and ear protection will be provided.

This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
