Job Summary
As part of the Clearance Coordination Center (CC) within Gas Control, Clearance Coordinator is responsible for authorizing all applicable gas related work, through planning, development and implementation, for all gas transmission and distribution operations, including, but not limited to: driving to simultaneous work avoidance efforts; exercising independent judgment and discretion to ensure company maintains situational awareness on all activities affecting its gas assets; providing oversight to all field resources; preparing documentation and analysis for internal and external audits and administrative activities; and coordinating activities, upstream pipeline providers, and contractors to ensure adherence to key components of Gas Standards and all applicable Operational Notices. Persons holding the positions will apply specialized utility and industry knowledge and various analysis tools to review concurrent work, supply positions, and real-time system conditions; analyze and revise gas special instructions; and provide exceptional customer service for all LDCs while providing meaningful metrics to measure performance of all clearance center activities. Clearance Coordinator will independently evaluate and approve clearance requests and other assigned work.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Execute clearance requests by taking phone calls under normal and emergency conditions based on review of work requests and supporting records from NiSource and upstream supplier field personnel to determine whether and when to permit field maintenance/repairs/construction to begin, prioritize the order in which requests are granted, suspend, or modify a request that has been granted based on system-wide situational awareness
• Analyze and record work via Clearance Management tools, such as j5, Power BI, Tableau, Excel and/or similar. Use data to inspect what we expect for 1170.020. Support audit requests, simultaneous work avoidance (SWA) analysis, review work for potential enhancements, stop work for unsafe or unprepared workers, and other risk mitigating efforts.
• Review, approve and track all system events and communicate necessary changes to appropriate internal and external stakeholders including but not limited upstream suppliers, Gas Control, and field personnel
• Collaborate with Clearance Coordinators 1,2,3 and Sr’s and Clearance Engineers to avoid potential simultaneous work
• Coordinate system changes with Clearance Engineers, Gas System Planning, Gas Control, Field Engineering, System Operations, and other departments
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications for Position
• 0-2 years relevant experience
• Ability to read, write and interpret technical plans, processes, and procedures
• Good planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to perform duties effectively under emergency and contingency situations
• Ability to perform self-guided study and training as instructed
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
• 1+ years of experience in the gas utility industry or natural gas operations
• Experience manipulating and analyzing data in software applications, such as Excel, Access, SCADA, Synergi, j5, Tableau, Power BI and/or similar Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in high profile and fast paced environment
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and capacity to make decisions among various alternatives under pressure and communicate to all stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent work experience
• Experience and knowledge of utility / industrial operations,
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
