Job Summary
As part of the Clearance Coordination Center (CC) within Gas Control, the Clearance Coordinator is responsible for authorizing all applicable gas-related work through planning, development, and implementation across the company’s gas transmission and distribution operations. This includes—but is not limited to—driving simultaneous work avoidance efforts, exercising independent judgment to maintain situational awareness of all activities affecting gas assets, and providing oversight to field resources.
The role also involves preparing documentation and analysis for audits and administrative activities, and coordinating with internal teams, upstream pipeline providers, and contractors to ensure compliance with Gas Standards and all applicable Operational Notices. The Clearance Coordinator applies specialized utility and industry knowledge, along with analytical tools, to assess concurrent work, supply positions, and real-time system conditions. They will also analyze and revise gas special instructions and deliver exceptional customer service while providing meaningful performance metrics for all clearance center activities.
This position requires independent evaluation and approval of clearance requests and other assigned work.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Execute clearance requests by handling phone calls under normal and emergency conditions. Review work requests and supporting documentation to determine whether and when to authorize field maintenance, repairs, or construction. Prioritize, suspend, or modify requests based on system-wide situational awareness.Analyze and document work using Clearance Management tools such as j5, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar platforms. Use data to support audit requests, conduct simultaneous work avoidance (SWA) analysis, identify potential enhancements, and mitigate risks.Review, approve, and track all system events. Communicate necessary changes to internal and external stakeholders, including upstream suppliers, Gas Control, and field personnel.Collaborate with Clearance Coordinators and Engineers to prevent simultaneous work conflicts.Coordinate system changes with Gas System Planning, Gas Control, Field Engineering, System Operations, and other departments.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
0–2 years of relevant experienceAbility to read, write, and interpret technical plans, processes, and proceduresStrong planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to perform effectively under emergency and contingency conditionsSelf-motivated with the ability to complete independent study and trainingPreferred Qualifications
1+ years of experience in the gas utility or natural gas operations industryProficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Access, SCADA, Synergi, j5, Tableau, Power BI, or similarDemonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in high-pressure environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities under pressureBachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent work experienceFamiliarity with utility or industrial operationsPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
