The Senior Civil/Structural Project Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering complex public and private development projects. This role oversees project schedules, budgets, design execution, and quality control, while serving as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. The position requires strong technical expertise in civil and/or structural engineering, demonstrated leadership abilities, and the capacity to mentor design staff.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who can balance hands-on technical design with project management, client engagement, and business development responsibilities.
ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & ManagementManage civil and structural engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and design direction.Lead communication with clients, agencies, consultants, and contractors throughout all project phases.Oversee and direct CAD production and design work performed by technical staff.Prepare and negotiate proposals, scopes of work, and contracts for both public and private clients.Manage multiple active projects while maintaining organized, consistent communication and workflow.Technical ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering expertise in land development design, including grading, drainage facilities, street improvements, water, sewer, and storm drain systems.Conduct or oversee structural design tasks, calculations, and analysis for applicable project components.Perform initial site visits and regularly visit project locations to validate design assumptions, confirm field conditions, and monitor construction progress.Ensure compliance with all project requirements, engineering standards, and applicable codes and regulations.Review and approve plans, specifications, technical documents, and quality control deliverables.Team Development & CollaborationMentor junior and mid-level staff, supporting skill development and technical growth.Collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.Provide leadership in maintaining consistent design standards and best practices.Business DevelopmentBuild and maintain strong client relationships and represent the firm professionally and courteously.Support business development efforts, including networking, proposal writing, and participating in client interviews.Identify new opportunities with existing and prospective clients.What You’ll Bring to the TableBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a Structural Concentration.10–12+ years of engineering experience in civil and/or structural design and project management.Active California PE license required.Current knowledge of applicable engineering codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as Civil 3D, and structural software such as RISA-3D, Shapebuilder, RAM Steel, or equivalent.Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Above & BeyondExperience working in a multidisciplinary environment (architecture, engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, or planning).Strong understanding of emerging trends, best practices, and software applications in civil and structural engineering.Demonstrated ability to develop workload strategies, mentor staff, or contribute to departmental growth.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a collaborative, team-focused environment that values technical excellence, professional growth, and long-term employee engagement. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
