Civil Engineer
Job Title: Civil Engineer Job Description The civil engineer will participate in project meetings, communicating technical information related to their assigned work. They will develop full project, system, or component designs for construction and engineering efforts, coordinating and managing detailed tasks required to deliver engineering services. The role involves preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules for various assignments, producing comprehensive project documentation and deliverables, and engaging with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders throughout project execution. Responsibilities + Conduct technical evaluations or testing activities and interpret data to support engineering decisions. + Identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions to engineering and construction challenges. + Assist with preparing proposals and supporting materials required to pursue new work or project funding. + Work under broad direction while seeking guidance for unique, complex, or conflicting design and technical issues. + Apply foundational civil engineering principles, standards, and methodologies to support construction projects. Essential Skills + Proficiency in civil design, Civil 3D, and transportation design. + Experience using OpenRoads and MicroStation software. + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. + Minimum of four years of relevant experience. + Active Professional Engineer (PE) license. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and awareness of current industry practices. + Strong motivation and problem-solving abilities with a proactive, energetic approach. + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce high-quality technical and analytical writing. + Ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility and urgency to meet client expectations. Work Environment The position is based in an office with occasional field visits, primarily onsite in Urbandale or Cedar Rapids. The role offers opportunities for career advancement, potentially leading to a Sr-level manager role. Entry-level candidates can be trained and earn specific certifications, translating into Sr observer and construction manager roles. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
