We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support water-related projects for a diverse client base. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conveyance with site/civil design experience related to water projects demonstrating the ability to work independently as well as lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists. Water-sector experience will be considered on an individual basis, but experience in the following bullets is preferred.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•\tDevelop, review, and approve basic to moderately complex engineering designs for: Water and wastewater treatment facilities, Water and sewer systems, Pipelines and Pump station engineering
•\tEnsure all project designs comply with state, and local regulations.
•\tPerforms site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
•\tApply firm policies, procedures, and best practices across all engineering deliverables.
•\tConduct site visits, field reviews, and technical studies to verify design requirements and site-specific conditions.
•\tUpdate project design criteria as needed throughout project development.
•\tContribute to CDM Smith’s technical leadership by preparing and submitting technical papers, abstracts, and conference presentations.
•\tCollaborate with sales and client service teams to prepare proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
•\tMeet with current and prospective clients to understand and support their evolving design and project needs.
•\tRepresent CDM Smith at conferences and professional symposia to enhance visibility and foster client relationships.
•\tProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff; delegate tasks effectively and support staff development within the discipline.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer). 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

**Skills and Abilities:**
•\tDemonstrated experience leading water-related engineering projects.
•\tProven ability to guide teams of engineers and scientists.
•\tStrong technical expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure design.

•\tKnowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
•\tKnowledge of engineer principles of design.
•\tKnowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
•\tknowledge of state and local regulations.
**Background Check and Drug Testing Information:**
CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. **Additional Compensation:**
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
