DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Monitor a portfolio of client credit exposures, analyzing credit data and financial statements of individual clients to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or loaning money for new loans and derivatives transactions. Gather client credit needs, conduct credit analysis, independently develop a credit opinion based on credit analysis, review and assign risk ratings to clients, prepare reports with credit information for use in decision making, and maintain updated credit research. Conduct credit analysis to assist in structuring, negotiating, finalizing, and executing credit-related documentation for new loans and derivatives transactions. Using financial statement data, describe the financial performance assigned corporate customers in terms of revenue, profit, and EBITDA margins, working capital sources and uses, free cash flow, leverage, and liquidity and debt capacity with comparisons to other firms in the industry. Assign ratings to corporate customers using financial metrics and qualitative assessments of credit strength consistent to and with reference to company's policies and procedures. Based on individual client credit ratings, provide approval for all lending- and trading-related transactions, including operating exposures. Construction reasonable projections of financial performance for assigned clients reflecting multiple cases reflecting different assumptions for a client's operating environment. Using discounted cash flow projections and market metrics and relying on standard Capital Asset Pricing Model techniques, value companies for comparisons and to make sound judgement regarding exposure requests. Assist legal counsel in crafting appropriate documentation and help negotiate acceptable structures for loans and counterparty credit products. Remain current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, potential problems, and opportunities. Provide a cohesive and comprehensive approach to review ratings, risk assessment, portfolios, clients, and industries. Coordinate the credit due diligence process for clients, including for capital markets transactions. Work with other lines of business (LOBs) on allocation of capital for clients while maintaining threshold and industry limits. Coordinate and allocate work across credit deal teams. Review and approve written credit approval documents, which include financials analysis and modeling. Prepare and present quarterly and annual risk reviews and tiering analyses. Train, mentor, and develop junior Credit Analyst members of the team. Support innovation and continuous efficiency improvements. This position requires up to 10% domestic travel to attend client and internal meetings, industry conferences, and company trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Either a 3-year or a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or as CIB Risk, Wholesale Credit Risk Associate/Analyst, Credit Manager, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience working with credit risk within either a banking or a corporate finance role. This position requires two (2) years of experience with the following skills: accounting and corporate finance; financial modeling using valuation methodologies; loan products, documentation, and structuring; and MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. This position requires any amount of experience with the following skills: using ratio analysis to understand the primary factors driving financial performance of a firm, working capital, and the cash conversion cycle; applying the concepts of Net Present Value and Internal Rates of Return, or other quantitative methods of financial analysis; calculating Weighted Average Costs of capital; and using derivative products including forwards, futures, options, and swaps in risk management.
