The Asia Pacific Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) advances the firm’s data and analytics strategy, platforms, solutions, capabilities, and governance to deliver trustworthy, responsible, innovative, and commercially value outcomes across the APAC markets and businesses.
As a Vice President in the China Chief Data Office, specifically as a Data Management Lead seated in China LIB, you will be tasked with implementing the data management strategy, ensuring consistent application of data policies, governance, and standards across various business lines and countries. Your role will involve leading specific data-related workstreams, developing reporting metrics, and executing projects as per local regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for promoting a data-centric culture across all China LIB lines of business and corporate functions. This role offers a unique opportunity to build strong partnerships with various teams and deepen your understanding of China's Financial Markets and regulations.
Job responsibilities:
• Support the Chief Data Office executives in defining and executing on global and local data strategy
• Lead and own specific data workstreams (i.e. privacy, data protection, data storage etc.) in ensuring compliance with global firmwide policies and local regulatory requirements
• Develop reporting/ metrics to support governance meetings and managers with supervisory responsibilities e.g. Data Protection Officers
• Leads and execute specific projects required by local regulatory requirements (owned by CDO)
• Promote awareness of data culture across all China LIB business and functions, conduct data governance training and communication strategy / campaign.
• Foster strong partnership with stakeholders in Legal, Compliance, Technology, Cybersecurity & Tech Risk, Control Management teams, Business Managers, Operations, Front Office, and CDAO AI/ML teams.
• Ability to engage with local regulatory contacts via written exchanges, verbal conversations and in-person meetings.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
• B.A. in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields
• 15+ years of experience in a data governance, privacy, data security management, operations, technology, or related fields in global and leading financial institutions
• Possess good understanding of China Financial Markets and data related laws and regulations
• Good understanding of data flows and data controls
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to tailor a message to various levels of management
• Strong aptitude to work with a wide range of line of businesses and functions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Highly motivated individual with excellent time management & organizational skills
• Excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint (including PitchPro)
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, flexible and capable of engaging various functions, locations, and businesses
• Fluent in both written and verbal communications or English and Mandarin Chinese languages
