Brenner Children’s Hospital is searching for a Child Life Specialist to deliver exceptional therapeutic care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients—helping them thrive through life’s toughest challenges. You’ll design and lead engaging child life programs that empower families and transform hospital experiences. Using your expertise in human development, you’ll turn compassion into action, supporting children as they navigate illness, injury, and hospitalization.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Child Life or related fieldIntern or work experience in a comparable setting requiredCertification eligible with the Child Life Certifying CommissionCPR certification required
 

Functions & Responsibilities:

Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.Provides patient care assessment, planning, interventions and evaluation.Directs patient and family interactions that reduce distress, increase adaptive coping and protect and enhance developmental integrity.Educates the patient, family, and other health care providers to assure continuity of the patient care plan.Supervises child life students and volunteers to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.Maintains accurate documentation.Participates in quality improvement initiatives.Adheres to federal, state, hospital and professional regulations and Code of Ethics.Promotes professional development and education.Provides appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines.
 

Skills & Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written communication and composition skillsAbility to communicate on a professional level with health care providers and the public Ability to communicate with pediatric patients and significant others appropriate to their level of comprehensionKnowledge of clinical skills and understanding of the patient throughout childhood
