**Chief Engineer**
Job Description
As a Chief Engineer, you will have the general oversight and responsibility of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting systems, boilers, cooling towers, water treatment, and fire life safety systems. You will manage engineering operations and maintenance under the direction of the Unit Director, and step into the role of Assistant Operations Manager as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Submit proposals to replace equipment nearing the end of its lifecycle.
+ Manage and implement engineering operations and maintenance of the facility.
+ Assume the general duties of the Unit Director in their absence.
+ Coach and mentor the Assistant Chief Engineer.
+ Provide technical training for all engineering team members.
+ Implement training programs for facility equipment and systems.
+ Establish periodic operational testing schedules for critical systems.
+ Administer a preventative maintenance system tailored to the facility.
+ Oversee daily building rounds and equipment readings.
+ Maintain files of machinery history and daily readings.
+ Detect poor trending of parameters and develop comparison readings.
+ Evaluate equipment and systems operationally, providing feedback to the Unit Director.
+ Submit proposals and supervise subcontracted jobs.
+ Implement and oversee an energy conservation and management program.
+ Ensure compliance with local laws and safety regulations.
+ Coordinate with the Assistant Chief for materials and equipment management.
+ Develop and maintain a work order system for on-call services.
+ Implement policies and procedures for daily operations workflow.
+ Perform additional duties as necessary for operational readiness.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years' experience as a Chief Engineer.
+ Experience with both commercial buildings and industrial plants.
+ Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Presentable and customer service oriented.
+ Experience leading capital expenditure projects.
+ Track record of continued education and certifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Stationary engineer license or relevant engineering certification.
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $72.12 - $81.73/hr.
