Job Title: Chemist IIJob Description

The Chemist II will utilize their scientific education and analytical chemistry experience to perform simple to moderately complex laboratory testing within a good manufacturing practices laboratory. The role involves generating results and interpreting data output to determine conformance to specifications. The Chemist II will act as a team member in the API/Raw Material/In-Process/Drug Product testing laboratories.

ResponsibilitiesIndependently perform and verify a multitude of laboratory techniques for which they are trained, adjusting to unforeseen technical or logistical obstacles to accomplish assignments.Understand multiple laboratory techniques and principles, and independently troubleshoot and resolve analytical techniques and instrument issues.Take initiative to be a key player in team activities and decision making, including proactive identification, development, and implementation of improvement plans.Budget time independently and effectively to carry out assigned tasks and make recommendations for improvement.Recognize obstacles to completion of assigned testing and independently resolve them, consistently achieving commitments despite obstacles.Take ownership of special projects as needed to support overall laboratory needs and requirements.Communicate proactively with supervisor and team members to ensure timely product delivery and compliance during audit activities as needed.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in the sciences with 3+ years of laboratory experienceDirect lab experienceGMP experienceAttention to detailProblem-solving skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsFlexibility in shift and workdays is highly desirableAbility to work with general supervision while effectively managing time to multi-task based on the completed training matrixGood interpersonal, documentation, and communication skillsDesired technical competencies include LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, ICP, Empower, dissolution, IR, titrations, and common wet chemical testingWork Environment

This position is located in US-IL-Lake County and requires working 100% onsite. The 3rd shift consists of 4x10hr shifts, either Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday, from 10pm-8:30am. Training will occur during the first shift for the first 3-6 months. Once training is complete, a 15% shift differential will be applied for transitioning to the 3rd shift. Weekends are included in the schedule. No travel is required, and access to the client's system is necessary. A laptop will be provided for work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
