Chemical Operator - 1st shift

Job Description

Join our team as a Chemical Operator, where you will begin by learning processes and equipment at our Madison site. In late 2027, you will transition to our new Windsor location, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This role involves producing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and requires working with both manual and state-of-the-art equipment.

Responsibilities

Produce active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in powder form.Mix powders with oils to create a concentration (0.5%) for use in rodent traps at the Windsor location.Operate 100-900 gallon reactors for multikilogram scale organic chemical synthesis.Perform manual tasks such as hooking up hoses and conducting transfers.Engage in chemical reactions using chemical reactors, focusing on organic chemistry.Conduct distillations and weigh powders for reactor charging.Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform chemical reaction steps.Record reaction notes and prepare samples.Become trained in forklift operation.Navigate seven different chemical processes, each lasting from 2 days to 4 weeks.Work with a variety of chemicals, requiring up to a year of training to master.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Life Science field.6 months to 2+ years of experience in organic chemistry or chemical synthesis.1-3+ years of experience with bulk chemicals or large-scale chemical production.Strong attention to detail.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Safety-conscious mindset.Ability to follow directions precisely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in chemical synthesis, organic syntheses, and sample preparation.Knowledge of distillation processes and chemical engineering.Understanding of safety standards such as OSHA regulations.

Work Environment

The team at the Madison facility consists of eight members, including two maintenance technicians, four operators, one scheduler, and one director. Our new facility will feature advanced technologies such as vacuum distillations and vacuum transfers, along with a filter dryer for product drying. The goal is to work in pairs, fostering a collaborative environment. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $58240.00/yr.
