Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description
Work closely with scientists on research projects. As a Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in performing samples preparation and sample testing while ensuring accurate analysis through various advanced techniques.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with scientists to support research projects.Conduct precipitation tests by calculating and preparing dilutions, setting up reactions, and analyzing solutions using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA).Prepare and analyze samples through grinding ore, pressing pellets, performing gravimetric analysis, and running x-ray fluorescence (XRF).Communicate effectively with scientists to understand tasks, explain results, and plan work schedules.Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for moderately complex but routine tasks and instrumentation.Make observations during lab work and report potential issues to scientists promptly.Prioritize safety by adhering to lab protocols and proper waste disposal procedures.Maintain clean and organized lab spaces and equipment, and restock supplies as needed.Utilize Excel to tabulate, organize, and plot data, and send reports to scientists.Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biology.At least one year of experience working in a chemistry or microbiology lab.Proficiency in wet chemistry, titration, and chemical handling.Strong observational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and manage experiment schedules.Capability to multi-task and support multiple projects simultaneously.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with method development or improving testing or experimental protocols.Experience working directly with scientists in support of research projects.Familiarity with analytical instruments or spectroscopy such as XRF, XRD, ICP, IC, AA, IR/FTIR, UV/vis, turbidity, colorimetry, HPLC, GC, MS, NMR.Experience performing wet chemical methods like titrations, acid digestion, gravimetry, chromatography, or electrochemistry.Eagerness to learn new skills and adapt to a dynamic lab environment.Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainfield, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
