Job Description:

2A ICU is a 21-bed medical/surgical ICU serving high acuity medical ICU patients.  The unit population is cardiac interventions, SARS, Cardiogenic shock, Rotoprone, Post-partum critical care patients and complex care ICU patients most of which have a medical or cardiac diagnosis.

Job Description:

Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision of workflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department.Assures the provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family, and physician issues/concerns as appropriate.Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others. The Charge Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.As a clinical nurse, the charge nurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Requirements:

Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky. 

Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university. 

Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years. 

One year related experience

Basic Life Support- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don’t have it already. 

ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
