Certified Welding Inspector (Temporary)

We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support our structural MIG welding operations for commercial water treatment projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring all welded components meet strict quality, safety, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, MIG processes, and AWS codes—along with a hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach to inspection.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Perform visual and dimensional inspections on structural MIG welds according to project specifications and AWS D1.1 / relevant codes.
+ Review welding procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQR) and verify compliance during fabrication and assembly.
+ Monitor welding activities in the shop and field, ensuring adherence to quality and safety requirements.
+ Document findings, create inspection reports, and maintain accurate quality records.
+ Identify welding defects and work with production teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
+ Inspect structural components used in commercial water treatment systems, including frames, skids, tanks, and process equipment.
+ Verify proper material identification, fit‑up, and weld preparation before welding begins.
+ Participate in final quality inspections prior to shipment or installation.
+ Assist with welder performance testing, qualifications, and ongoing skills assessments.
+ Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and field teams.
**Qualificati** ons:
+ Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
+ 3+ years of welding inspection experience in structural steel fabrication or industrial construction.
+ Strong working knowledge of MIG/GMAW welding processes.
+ Familiarity with commercial or industrial water treatment equipment is a plus.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
+ Strong understanding of AWS and industry standards (AWS D1.1, D1.6, etc.).
+ Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work in fabrication shop and field environments as needed.
**Work Environment**
Work in a clean manufacturing facility with a supportive team. The day shift runs from 6:00am to 4:30pm, while the night shift is from 3:00pm to 11:30pm. Embrace a structured environment with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies. Position will be a temporary role for 3-6 months.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Walker, LA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.
