The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to the Health Center and its satellite clinics. Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant delivers high‑quality, respectful care to patients while maintaining strict compliance with clinical standards. Responsibilities include supporting clinicians, preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, documenting care, and ensuring efficient daily flow within the clinic.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide safe, professional patient care in accordance with approved clinical standards and health protocols.Assist providers by collecting and recording vital signs, patient histories, chronic medications, visit reasons, and other relevant clinical data.Support both simple and complex clinical procedures as directed by Registered Nurses or Medical Clinicians.Perform patient screening and triage under supervision, ensuring clear and complete documentation in the electronic health record.Maintain accuracy in data entry for lab values, scheduling updates, and medical record documentation to ensure workflow integrity.Prepare clinical areas—including exam rooms, lab spaces, and supply stations—ensuring cleanliness, organization, and compliance with infection control guidelines.Assist with telemedicine tasks when required, including preparing documents, supporting virtual visits, and helping providers execute clinical orders.Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Tribal health policies.Communicate clearly with patients regarding procedures, care instructions, and follow‑up.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current CMA or RMA certification.Phlebotomy competency or certification preferredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.Skilled in EMR/EHR documentation, vital signs collection, and clinical workflows.Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality practices.Ability to consult with nurses and clinicians regarding patient concerns or uncertainties in procedures.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gardnerville, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.84 - $19.50/hr.
